SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed his regret over attempts by certain quarters to ridicule Islam.
Hence, Sultan Sharafuddin said as the state's head of Islam, he wanted the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) to defend the sanctity of the religion.
Mais members should transform the body into a highly acclaimed institution to gain the respect of all communities, he said when presenting letters of appointment to 20 Mais members for the 2012-2014 term at Istana Bukit Kayangan here today.
