My Story, Speed had plans to spend Christmas in the UAE

Gary Speed had planned to spend Christmas in the United Arab Emirates with his family, said former teammate Carlton Palmer.

The Wales boss, who was found hanged at his family home on Sunday morning, had reportedly lined up some media and coaching work in Abu Dhabi.

Former England international Palmer, who was a teammate of Speed's at Leeds in the 1990s, told Gulf News: "I'm absolutely gutted, Speedo and I were very good friends.
