UNITED NATIONS: Yemen's sidelined President Ali Abdullah Saleh needs 'serious' medical treatment which will force him to go abroad, the United Nations envoy to the country said on Wednesday.
UN representative Jamal Benomar also highlighted international fears over the spread of Al-Qaeda's influence in Yemen where the government has lost control of huge swathes of territory.
Veteran strongman Saleh agreed last month to hand over power to his deputy but remains honorary president until an election scheduled for Feb 21.
