KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, wants the Jawi script to be raised to a level at par with the status of the national language.
“Today, we are at the crossroads. As the inheriting generation, the question is how to boost Jawi to a new level as a symbol of our identity,” he said when opening the Jawi Carnival 2011 and the Second National Jawi Writing Conference at the National Library yesterday.
He said besides carrying out more programmes, efforts must be made through various means, including technology.
