My Story, Pertiga urges Penang gov’t to act on illegal online gambling

GEORGE TOWN: A non-governmental organisation has urged the Penang government to tackle online gambling which it claims has become rampant in the state and is leading to social ills in the community.

Pertubuhan Islam Gabungan Amal (Pertiga) said the state government should give serious attention to the matter as it could jeopardise the well-being of the people."Our society can break up because of gambling.

Robbery, divorce, suicides and cheating will become rampant," Pertiga president Sabaruddin Ahmad told reporters here yesterday.
