My Story, Obama congratulates Sarkozy on birth of daughter

CANNES: US President Barack Obama congratulated France's Nicolas Sarkozy on the birth of his daughter on Thursday amid signs of a thaw between two leaders with a history of tense relations.

Obama made the gesture ahead of a difficult G20 summit hosted by Sarkozy in Cannes, and on Friday he is due to make an unprecedented joint appearance alongside his counterpart on French television.
