My Story, AirAsia X slaps carbon surcharge on to passengers

KUALA LUMPUR: Passengers of AirAsia X flying to long haul routes, London and Paris have already started paying additional cost for carbon offset surcharges since Sunday.

This is following the imposition of the European Union's new Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) due to the carbon tax scheme on flights into Europe from Jan 1.

Those taking routes to Europe with the carrier will be charged an extra RM40 for return flights.
