KUALA LUMPUR: The sudden rise of drug mules involving Africans could be because Malaysia is a popular destination for young Africans to further their studies.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said African drug syndicates targeted fellow Africans arriving here legitimately to study in local colleges, to later recruit them as drug mules.
